Winter Grooming Tips for Dog Paws

January 19, 2017
Grooming tips from your dog groomer at Ingersoll Animal Hospital. Now that icy weather has hit Des Moines it is important to keep your dog’s paws healthy and problem free. Hairy fuzzy paws will be a magnet for ice and snowballs.  Excessive amounts of snowmelt may be irritating on the paws.  Hair on the underside of the paws can make the paws slippery by not allowing the natural tread and traction of the footpads do their job. It is important to wipe the paws after walks outside and to check for any ice or snowballs hanging on to the toes.  Call us at 515-274-3555 to set up a grooming appointment if your dog needs to clean up those paws to help deal with the winter weather.
